How ranks work

You start with 800 crewmate MMR and 800 impostor MMR. Your overall MMR is the average of the two. Winning as crew changes your crew rating; winning as impostor changes your impostor rating.

Your first 15 games

Your ratings are shown with an asterisk and your rank is Unstable. * labelled MMR are Unstable. Stabilises after 15 ranked games.

Both ratings stay between 500 and 1099 during these games. Unstable players do not appear on leaderboards, receive rank roles or hold Ace, Sherlock or Jack the Ripper. After 15 completed rated games, your ratings become stable.

Winning and losing

The expected result depends on both teams' ratings and the recent crew win rate. Beating the odds earns more. Changes are larger when you are new and settle as you play more games. Wins gradually get smaller above 1400 overall MMR; losses get smaller below 600.

Each of your first 100 rated games also adds 1 point to both ratings. Playing more than 100 games adds no further activity bonus.

Voting as a crewmate

Your crew rating also reflects voting accuracy and mistakes in critical meetings, compared with the server average. Only votes cast while alive count. Skips do not count toward accuracy; if you cast no votes for a player, there is no accuracy effect. Voting counts double during your first 15 games.

Critical meetings
Alive / impostorsA mistake means
7 / 2Voting for a crewmate
6 / 2 or 5 / 2Not voting for an impostor, including skip or no vote
4 / 1, not the last meetingVoting for a crewmate
4 / 1, last meeting followed by a crew timer lossNot voting for an impostor, including skip or no vote
3 / 1Not voting for an impostor, including skip or no vote

At most two wrong critical votes count toward a game's rating change, even if your team wins. Match scoreboards separate the result, voting adjustment and critical penalty.

Iron through Master progress through division III, then II, then I. Ace is the highest overall MMR, Sherlock the highest crew MMR, and Jack the Ripper the highest impostor MMR. Only stable players qualify.

Other rules

Leaving while alive deducts half your current K from both ratings, in addition to the team result. Cancelled matches change no ratings. Test and bot matches are unrated. Ratings are stored to one decimal place; displayed MMR is rounded. A new season resets both ratings to 800 while keeping match history.
